About Hammer 503
HAMMER IN THE 503: BORN JANUARY 5 2010
This is a new site dedicated to bringing West Ham United fans in the Portland area and in the US together.
It’s Strange times as usual down at the Boleyn, There’s confusion over ownership of the club, possible bids from former Birmingham City owners Gold and Sullivan, Malaysian entrepreneur and AirAsia founder Tony Fernandes and the London based US consortium Intermarket.
Fans are fearing a January clear out with Premiership clubs sniffing around Green, Parker and Upson to name but a few. The threat of relegation looms large of course, inconsistant results despite some nice pretty performances have left us just above the bottom three.
So if you’re on the west coast and want to get in touch, contribute or make any suggestions, drop us a line.
Let us know where you watch the games, how you feel about the current situation down at Upton Park or literally anything West Ham related.

SCAMPIDOG
I am a 38 year old West Ham supporter living in Portland Oregon, I decided to put this blog together to see if there was any interest amongst other West Ham supporters living in the the area or in the US.
I was born and raised in Romford Essex and my father was a West Ham supporter, I started to show an interest in West Ham during the 1980 FA run and my first home game was a 1-0 win over Wrexham in May 1981 to lift the old second division title, Ray Stewart scored the goal, me and my Dad stood in the South Bank, now the Bobby Moore stand. If I remember correctly, we won the first 4 or 5 games I went to see, I later found out it wouldn’t always be that way.
The team that day: Parkes, Stewart, Lampard, Bonds, Martin, Devonshire, Neighbour, Goddard, Cross, Brooking, Pike. Sub: Pearson.
HAPPY HAMMER
Another expat living here in the Northwest. I was born in Hackney in the heart of East London. My local teams at the time were Leyton Orient and West Ham. I was drawn to West Ham after watching the 1970 World Cup and following England which had one of the best West Ham Players of all time in Booby Moore. I was hooked after that and throughout my playing career I adopted the Number 6 shirt in honor of Bobby Moore. I spent a few years in the famous Academy. My first trip to Upton Park was in 1972 -73 season when we equaled our highest ever league finish of 6th. This was largely due to Hammer of the Year Bryan ‘Pop’ Robson and his prowess in front of goal. Trevor Brooking was runner up as Hammer of the Year. The squad that year was as follows: Ferguson, McDowell, Lampard, Bonds, Taylor, Moore (Captain),Tyler, Best, Holland, Brooking, ‘Pop’ Robson (Hammer of the Year), Lock, Ayris, Grotier, MacDougall, Charles, Lutton, Coker, Boyce. It should be noted that of the 19 players in the squad 12 came out of the famous Academy. When not watching the Hammers on TV I spend my time coaching. I’m currently the Head Coach at a High school and for a Club here in Portland.

Nice meeting the two of you this weekend! Following on our recent luck and form, it’d be nice to see a point out of Anfield this weekend but then again, ‘dreams are free.’
Equally exciting for most of us is the Timbers opening match. See you guys at PGE too?
